Enchantment at the Menello Museum of American Art

Trés was honored to place his Enchantment chapel in the Mennello Museum of American Art. The exterior of this barn wood chapel is surrounded by carved monks with red, black, and gold painted robes. Visitors were invited inside to sit peacefully while listening to birdsongs. Wishes, affirmations, or other thoughts were written on strips of washi paper and draped over the uplifted arms of his illuminated monk sculpture.

That chapel sounds like the kind of place where you don't realize you needed to cry until you're already sitting inside listening to those birds. I tried to capture that same feeling of quiet ritual with my own hands by printing small meditation tokens and little monk figures but nothing I made ever felt truly sacred until I stopped rushing the finish. What changed for me was when I started treating my collection of 3d printed things not as trinkets but as tiny vessels for intention just like those washi paper wishes draped over the illuminated monk.
